Leaving Dubai? How to sell your furniture before you move
Choose based on your time, how much work you want to do and what you will do with anything left. No resale price or buyer is guaranteed: condition, demand and your deadline matter.
Four practical options
Sell items yourself on Dubizzle
When it helps
You control the listings, prices and buyers. You can spend more time finding a buyer for each item.
Work and costs
You photograph, list, answer messages and arrange each pickup. Listing or promotion charges may apply depending on the category and service: check Dubizzle’s current terms. Keep a plan for items that do not sell.
A dealer buying the whole home
When it helps
One offer and one collection arrangement can simplify a move with little time left. Ask for an offer that specifies what is included.
Work and costs
The dealer needs a resale margin; compare net proceeds with other offers. Confirm in writing what is accepted, when collection happens and whether transport or unwanted-item removal costs extra.
Donate to a charity or another recipient
When it helps
Useful for usable items you do not want to sell. Ask what they accept, in what condition and whether collection is available.
Work and costs
You receive no sale proceeds. Acceptance and collection are not guaranteed; you may need to transport items or pay for removal. Do not leave items in shared areas without permission.
Nearbay
When it helps
One video, a catalog you review and a 7-day moving-out sale. Nearbay coordinates reservations and pickups and requests dealer offers for what remains.
Work and costs
No fixed fee. You pay 20% of what sells, and nothing if nothing sells. Commission applies to collected individual sales, capped at total individual and dealer-lot proceeds. Lot-only sales: no seller fee. Nothing upfront. You review and accept the dealer offer. Prices and availability of offers vary; confirming collection is part of preparing handover.

Decide what goes with you
Separate what you will keep, sell and donate. Measure large pieces, photograph their condition and choose a cutoff date. Ask management or your landlord about handover requirements, whether a move-out permit is needed and how long it takes to arrange.

List items or request offers
If selling yourself, publish listings and set viewing windows. Ask for whole-lot offers and check what they include. For donations, confirm acceptance and collection. In an apartment building, ask whether you must book the service elevator or loading access and register movers.

Confirm a plan for what remains
If you choose Nearbay, send your video and review the catalog for the 7-day sale. With any option, confirm pickups and a fallback for items without buyers. Arrange permits, loading windows and the elevator according to your building’s instructions; a buyer reservation is not a completed, paid sale.

Check collection and handover
Confirm that agreed items have left and payments received match items collected. Check the apartment, access areas and handover conditions agreed with your landlord or management. Return keys as arranged and keep confirmations. Do not promise an empty apartment without confirmed collections.
Permit and access requirements vary by building and community. This is a planning checklist: always confirm instructions with your management, landlord and mover.
Frequently asked questions
Which option gives me the most money?
There is no universal answer. Compare actual offers and subtract fees, transport, removal and the time you need. Selling separately can take more work; selling everything together can simplify coordination.
Do I need a move-out permit or an elevator booking?
It depends on the building or community. Ask management about requirements, lead times, documents and permitted windows. Also confirm access for buyers or movers.
Can I donate any furniture?
No. Ask about acceptance for the item type and condition, and confirm collection before relying on it. Have an alternative for items that are not accepted.
How do I start?
Film a 2–3 minute video of your home. Upload it on this page or contact us on WhatsApp. You review the items and prices before publishing.
How much does it cost?
No fixed fee. You pay 20% of what sells, and nothing if nothing sells. Commission applies to collected individual sales, capped at total individual and dealer-lot proceeds. Lot-only sales: no seller fee. Nothing upfront.
What happens to items that do not sell?
We request used-furniture dealer offers for the remaining items. You review and accept an offer, and we coordinate collection. Prices and availability depend on the offers received; we do not promise that every item will sell.
Are my video and address public?
No. Your video stays private and is deleted after 7 days. The catalog shows item crops and the community, without your exact address, phone or video. Buyers coordinate with Nearbay.
How do buyers pay and collect?
Buyers reserve a pickup window and pay the seller directly at pickup, in cash or by transfer. Ask building management about permits and access for your building.
Can AI assistants show my items?
If you allow it, AI assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude…) can show your items, prices and pickup area to people looking for furniture and send them to your Nearbay link to reserve. They can't buy or pay on your behalf. We share only public catalog data, not your personal details. People pay in person at pickup. You can turn this off from your seller panel.
